Description

INDUSTRY CALL-FOR-INNOVATION

Logo

Immersive Technologies (VR, AR, MR, XR) for Federal Government Agencies
Background: Federal government agencies are increasingly seeking advanced immersive technologies such as Virtual, Mixed, Extended, and Augmented Reality to enhance mission readiness and operational effectiveness. The demand for these technologies is driven by the need for realistic training environments, improved situational awareness, and efficient remote collaboration. As agencies modernize, immersive solutions are becoming integral to workforce development, simulation, and mission planning.
Challenges: Major challenges faced by federal agencies include limited access to realistic training scenarios, high costs associated with physical simulations, and difficulties in remote collaboration. Traditional methods often lack scalability and adaptability to rapidly changing mission requirements. By adopting immersive technologies, agencies can overcome these barriers and achieve greater flexibility and efficiency.
Needs: Patriot Labs is interested in innovative Reality-based immersive technology solutions that address critical training, simulation, and operational needs within federal government agencies. There is a pressing need for scalable, secure, and interoperable platforms that can be rapidly deployed across diverse mission sets. These solutions should bridge the gap between physical and digital environments to support evolving federal objectives.
Requirements: Preferred technical solutions may employ or include advanced Virtual, Mixed, Extended, or Augmented Reality platforms with secure data integration, real-time collaboration, and high-fidelity simulation capabilities. Solutions must be compatible with existing government IT infrastructure and adhere to federal cybersecurity standards. Interoperability with legacy systems and scalability for multi-user environments are essential.
Characteristics: Solutions should provide or enable intuitive user interfaces, seamless integration with agency workflows, and robust analytics for performance assessment. Real-time responsiveness, adaptability to various operational scenarios, and support for both individual and team-based experiences are highly desirable. Accessibility features and cross-platform compatibility are also important.
Benefits: Benefits sought include enhanced mission readiness, reduced training costs, and improved decision-making through realistic, data-driven simulations. Agencies can expect increased operational flexibility, faster knowledge transfer, and greater engagement among personnel. Demonstrable improvements in training outcomes, situational awareness, and remote collaboration are key performance attributes.
Approaches: Approaches could include the development of modular immersive environments, integration of AI-driven scenario generation, and deployment of secure cloud-based platforms for distributed access. Iterative prototyping with end-user feedback and alignment with agency-specific requirements are recommended. Leveraging commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and open standards can accelerate implementation and reduce costs.
Special Consideration: Special consideration given to solutions that include or enable adaptive, AI-powered content generation and real-time environmental sensing for hyper-realistic, context-aware immersive experiences. Solutions that demonstrate seamless interoperability across multiple agencies and mission domains will be prioritized.
