PerformRx Launches New Specialty Pharmacy Company

PerformRx (www.performrx.com), a URAC-accredited, full-service pharmacy benefits manager with industry-leading clinical programs, announced today the launch of PerformSpecialty, a new specialty pharmacy focused on care management for patients with chronic and complex conditions. The company, which is expected to create more than 80 jobs, is headquartered in Orlando, FL.

“PerformSpecialty is structured to provide medications classified as ‘specialty drugs,’ supported with care management and care coordination services with unique capabilities of interfacing with our clients’ medical management or care management systems, to deliver integrated care for optimal outcomes. We work to make sure every member receives personalized support to manage his or her conditions and prescribed medications,” said Mesfin Tegenu, M.S., R.Ph., president of PerformRx.

The company streamlines interactions along all stages of the specialty therapy continuum to provide better access to medications, care management and comprehensive reporting using real-time data. Additionally, PerformSpecialty’s patient-centric drug therapy and care management strategy ensures cost-effective outcomes while enhancing quality of care.

PerformSpecialty plans to leverage technology through the use of mobile devices such as tablets and cell phones to facilitate personalized care, enhanced access and improved outcomes for patients.

According to IMS PharMetrics, a leading global information and technology services company, a minority of patients account for the vast majority of health care costs. In 2012, more than 51 percent of the total spending for health care costs was for only five percent of all health plan members who required specialty drugs. PerformSpecialty will address this issue through its collaborative care model to deliver more cost-effective care to the chronically ill.

PerformSpecialty’s capacity to assume both the clinical management and fulfillment functions of specialty drugs for clients provides an end-to-end pharmaceutical care management model that improves the quality of care and overall health care outcomes for patients.
