“Art of the Possible” Innovation Projects and Technology-enabled Solutions

Patriot Labs can help you make the acquisition and adoption of mission essential capabilities a reality by providing technical expertise and procurement support – breaking through the barriers that often impede internal innovation efforts. These include creating a clear vision of the capability sought; documenting the technology and solution design; building internal leadership project support; creating end-user awareness and sustaining interest; identifying viable funding options; addressing the concerns of other stakeholders; and establishing contracting support.

Why Work With Us? Patriot Labs is a catalyst, enabler, and valued resource for connecting government internal stakeholders at all levels and industry. We are in full compliance with FAR statutes encouraging effective communication between Government and Industry.

48 CFR § 1.102-2(4). The Government must not hesitate to communicate with industry as early as possible in the acquisition cycle to help the Government determine the capabilities available in the marketplace…

48 CFR § FAR 15.201. Encourages government exploratory discussions and the sharing of general information with industry on agency mission needs and potential future requirements at any time prior to the release of a formal solicitation. This includes: (a) exchanges of information among all interested parties from the earliest identification of a requirement; (b) exchanging information to improve the understanding of Government requirements and industry capabilities; and (c) early exchanges of information about future acquisitions.

How We Work

Our team works directly with government-side project champions to draft an initial statement of objectives and an overview of the anticipated solution impact. These will be circulated to internal leadership to gauge sponsorship support, as well as select industry partners to assess technical feasibility. Once the necessary level of support has been confirmed, an integrated government and industry project team will be formed for the purpose of preparing and submitting a compelling proposal to the appropriate funding authority for consideration.

No Cost to Government. Our goal is to facilitate the development and acquisition of technology-enabled solutions that significantly improve government-function operational performance and defense-related mission outcomes. If you are a government stakeholder, Patriot Labs can help you at no-cost to:

  • Bring internal stakeholders and industry together for FAR-compliant discussions, from solution ideation – to development – to acquisition.
  • Support non-traditional (OTA, SBIR, CRADA, etc.) rapid acquisition efforts for innovative technologies.
  • Apply vendor-neutral approaches to match your use case specific requirements and solutions sought with independently vetted industry contractor capabilities.
  • Facilitate user-defined, use case specific capability demonstrations, feasibility evaluations, solution prototypes, implementation pilots, and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Dramatically accelerate the development, validation, and acquisition of mission-essential innovations and next generation technologies.

In addition to the technical expertise and procurement support outlined above, we also support program office business transformation and modernization efforts to quantify the ROI and/or performance impacts that a particular innovation project is anticipated to deliver.

Innovation Sponsorship and Funding Authority. Patriot Labs is powered by rapid prototyping and pilot funding vehicles; and CSO Open Topics for defense-related dual-purpose technologies. Accessible vehicles include, though not limited to:

  • SBIR/STTR & CSO – Small Business Innovation Research, Small Business Technology Transfer, and Commercial Solutions Openings.
  • OTA – Other Transaction Agreements.
  • BAA – Broad Agency Announcements for Applied Research.
  • CRADA – Cooperative Research and Development Agreements.
