HCI-DC 2014: Igniting an Interoperable Health Care System

Ron Garnett, Patriot Labs Executive Director, will be attending the  HCI-DC 2014: Igniting an Interoperable Health Care System, a public conference that will be held at the Washington D.C. Omni Shoreham hotel on Feb. 6, 2014. The conference is co-hosted by the Gary and Mary West Health Institute (WHI) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).  It will convene stakeholders critical to driving interoperability – a cornerstone to improving patient care through safer and more cost-effective health care delivery.

Now in its fourth year, the West Health Institute’s “Health Care Innovation” series of conferences held in Washington, D.C. (HCI-DC) convenes policy makers and the public and private sectors to discuss innovative solutions to our nation’s health care challenges. Past HCI-DC events have featured the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Communications Commission and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

HCI-DC 2014 will bring together leading innovators from inside and outside the health care industry to allow for knowledge sharing, matchmaking and engagement to drive transformation of our healthcare system:

• Convening diverse stakeholders dedicated to driving interoperability
• Educating stakeholder groups less familiar with interoperability
• Expanding the realm of the interoperability dialogue
• Demonstrating progress toward advancing interoperability while advancing critical success factors for the continued transformation of the nation’s healthcare system
• Catalyzing action by focusing on specific areas that represent the greatest opportunity for advancing interoperability

The day-long program will feature key note speeches, expert panels and collaborative networking sessions. There is no charge to attend the conference. It is open to policymakers, federal employees, health care advocates, business leaders, business development executives, academics, and product and technology specialists with a focus on or interest in health information technology, particularly in the area of interoperability. It will also be open to the media and live webcast.
