Robotic Process Automation in Federal Agencies – G144

Description

Industry: Information Technology
Focus Area: Process Automation (RPA and IPA) / Artificial Intelligence
Estimated Budget Range: TBD
Submission Deadline: Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 at 12:00, ET (TBD)

SUMMARY

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is a strategic priority for federal agencies and is considered a first step to higher level cognitive technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI). The impact sought from RPA adoption is to increase the productivity of the Federal workforce; improve user, customer, and citizen experience; and save taxpayer dollars. There are several initiatives within the government aimed at shifting the federal workforce from low-value to high-value work. This requires agencies to shift time, effort, and resources away from repetitive administration and compliance tasks toward those activities that more directly accomplish mission outcomes. Moreover, the ability of government to rapidly develop and deploy automations is critical in the ROI realization that automation can provide.

Patriot Labs is interested in identifying and exploring customer and end-user opportunities for RPA implementations focused on mission essential tasks. High ROI lines of business that typically include operations, finance and accounting, HR, IT/IS, procurement, administration, etc. Preferred requirements include close collaboration with end-users to launch, support, and scale RPA applications.

Requirement may include discovering RPA use cases, evaluating potential performance impacts, and an agile development and deployment approach to delivering RPA applications. Desirable project attributes may include: (i) providing all necessary resources and skills to deliver production ready automated business processes (e.g., business analysis, solution architecture and design, and development, testing and deployment); and (ii) ongoing automation monitoring, support, and maintenance.

Approaches sought could include operationalizing an RPA Center of Excellence (CoE), to include expert support to build, scale and maintain internal capabilities across the enterprise. CoE-related tasks could include the evaluation and prioritization of RPA use cases; incremental scheduled rollout of automations; repository of reusable automation tools and scripts; and documentation of AI and RPA best practices. Benefits sought could include optimization of business process workflows; reduced time to task completion; elimination of process error rates and rework; increased workload capacity and personnel productivity; and shifting staff focus from low-value to high-value activities. Special consideration given to requirements that incorporate artificial intelligence; machine learning; natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision.
