Description

INDUSTRY CALL-FOR-INNOVATION

Logo

Sensors, Sensing, and Sensor Fusion for Federal Government Agencies
Background: Federal government agencies are experiencing a growing need for advanced sensor fusion and electronics capabilities to support mission-critical operations in complex environments. The integration of diverse sensing modalities and real-time data processing is essential for enhancing situational awareness and decision-making. As threats evolve and operational demands increase, robust sensor fusion solutions are required to ensure comprehensive and actionable intelligence.
Challenges: Agencies face significant challenges in aggregating, correlating, and interpreting data from heterogeneous sensor sources in real time. Legacy systems often lack interoperability and scalability, limiting their ability to adapt to evolving mission requirements. Overcoming these challenges is critical to improving detection accuracy, reducing operator workload, and enabling rapid response.
Needs: Patriot Labs is interested in innovative sensor fusion and electronics solutions that can seamlessly integrate multiple sensing modalities for enhanced operational effectiveness. There is a pressing need for technologies that deliver high-fidelity, low-latency data fusion to support dynamic and distributed missions. Solutions should address both current and emerging threats across diverse operational domains.
Requirements: Preferred technical solutions may employ or include modular, open-architecture sensor fusion platforms capable of ingesting and processing data from a variety of sensor types. Systems should support real-time analytics, robust data security, and scalable deployment across multiple platforms. Integration with existing command and control infrastructure is highly desirable.
Characteristics: Solutions should provide or enable low-latency data processing, high reliability in contested environments, and adaptability to new sensor technologies. Automated calibration, self-healing network capabilities, and intuitive user interfaces are also important. The ability to operate in both centralized and distributed configurations is a key characteristic.
Benefits: Benefits sought include improved situational awareness, faster and more accurate threat detection, and reduced cognitive burden on operators. Enhanced interoperability and scalability will enable agencies to respond more effectively to evolving mission requirements. Demonstrable improvements in data integrity and actionable intelligence are also expected.
Approaches: Approaches could include the development of AI-enabled data fusion algorithms, implementation of edge computing architectures, and adoption of standardized data exchange protocols. Prototyping and field-testing in operationally relevant environments will be essential for validation. Collaboration with industry and academia may accelerate technology maturation and deployment.
Special Consideration: Special consideration given to solutions that include or enable autonomous sensor fusion, adaptive learning capabilities, and seamless integration with next-generation command and control systems.
